Feng Shui FAMILY |
|
In the chinese system of the Bagua, there is a place for each member of the family. This layout is based on the knowledge that the most valuable and/or vulnerable members are placed furthest from the mouth of the "cave" while the most strong and/or least valuable members are placed near the mouth of the cave. The theories here may be that it is hardest to replace Mother who will be able to produce more children if any are lost. Notice also that the first son seems to be valued a bit more that the 2nd and 3rd sons. It would seem that they are there to help Father protect the rest of the family. They are what we would call the first line of defense. What we find when we go into many homes today is that the mom "holds court" in the back right of the home whether it is a family room, kitchen, or dining room. It seems to be the place where she feels most comfortable and the rest of the family knows to find her. And very often the dad has an office, a lounge chair in a living room or family room in the front right of the home. We're alway impressed with the instictive under pinnings of Feng Shui. No matter what culture you are from, some instints cross all cultural barriers. Try laying the bagua over your home via the front door and see how your layout works with how people tend to congregate and move in your home. |
